How to Keep a Toddler Occupied

If you read my this post you know that we are dealing with a toddler that doesn't want to go to bed - this of course means that we are dealing with a cranky little man. Last night was by far the worst. Nothing I did satisfied him, nothing made him happy content. That was until, I did the dishes, cleared out the sink, and filled it with water for him. The floor was soaked, the counter was flooded, he was drenched...life was finally good. I now have new motivation to be sure my sink is always free of dishes and debris...keeping Tommy quiet happy.

  4. My girls still love to fill up the sink and play in the water! Ok, just my 10 year old still does that. Teen has better things to do. :)

  5. Nothing is more frustrating than a toddler that won't sleep. What a cute solution you found though!

  6. My kids love to have their toys go swimming. We use it as a reward. I hope this helps your little guy get some rest. A grumpy, sleepy toddler can be very hard to handle!

  7. I'm also of the "whatever it takes to keep them quiet" school of parenting.

  9. What is it about boys and playing in the water? My little guy has the same yellow cup with his name on it.

  10. I would do that with my kids if it wouldn't ruin our floors. Maybe I'll have to think about putting some towels down.

  16. At least you figured out what would make him calm. I had quite a time the other night getting Natey to relax after his giant tantrum!

  17. We love playing in water here, too. Just, uh, make suire the sink don't have the stopper in it and let the water flow freely. THen you'll be mopping the floor. Just sayin'.

  18. What a cutiepie! A friend's oldest liked to play in the water, too. My friend figured out that if she put two buckets in the bath tub, ran some water in the tub and in one of the buckets, he would spend ages playing, filling and emptying buckets, floating and sinking toys and finally wear himself out. The bonus was that all the water was kept off the floor! He liked it because he got to get in the tub with his clothes on. That was just way, too funny! But it worked! LOL! TTFN
