We Have Entered A New Phase

We are officially in the "I will do anything to not go to sleep no matter how tired I am" phase. At 2 1/2 Tommy has finally become that child that doesn't want to go to bed...what can I say he takes after his mommy. I know we shouldn't be surprised - it was only a matter of time, but we really were spoiled with him. At 3 months he was sleeping 4for 8 hour stretches, by 6 months he gave us 12 hours. He has always been a dream to put down, and other than when he got sick, he went to bed and stayed in bed. Yup we were spoiled....were...

Our new nighttime routine:

8:15: PJs, Brush Teeth, Read 2-4 books

8:30: Lights off, say goodnight

8:32: Get out of bed turn on light, read books in bed

8:40: Climb up to play with CDs and CD player

8:45: Get bored, go into bathroom, play with anything and everything I can find

8:46: Daddy or Mommy finally go up, get back in bed

8:47: Repeat.....

This goes on until at least 9:30....sooooo fun....tonight we actually found him in our bedroom, in our bed, in the complete dark - trying to figure out how to turn on our laptop to watch his movie....ugh...we are figuring it out as we go, sticking to our guns, and setting some rules - hopefully we will get through this soon.

So now we have one going to bed/sleep between 9:30 and 10, and the other getting up at 4 am (Jack has NEVER been a good sleeper for us).

Oh the joys of motherhood....but really how upset can I get, I mean, really...look how darn cute they are!!

apparently he can't say "cheese" with his eyes open

We were considering packing him up but the cost for shipping was absurd!!

And on a happier note or two

- Jack is starting to stand without holding onto anything

- Tommy's manners are amazing, tonight he asked me "Mommy can you do a favor for me please?" - how cute is that

- Jack is finally eating, and eating like a pro at that!! I think he was waiting for me to get all nervous and talk to the Dr...woo hoo...no early intervention needed here!!

- Tommy is becoming more and more capable to dress and undress himself (when determined he can undress himself in moments - which is why you see him naked in more and more pictures)

As tired as I am - I LOVE it, I love being a mom. I love my little guys, watching them grow and develop every day. I can't wait to see who they become. I find myself getting more and more excited about Christmas this year, it won't be excessive, we won't have piles of presents (Dan and I decided to forgo getting each other anything all together - if we don't have it we don't need it), but really I could care less about the presents. I am just thrilled to get to spend this holiday with my sweet sweet little men and my wonderful husband.
alright stop blogging already and GO TO BED!!!

  1. Oh my gosh..how cute!!! He was trying to put on his own movie!! What a smartie!! I loved all the pictures you posted! Your kids are soooo cute!!!!

  2. I'm no help on bedtimes. I still rock Corban EVERY night. I'm a sucker.

  3. I feel your pain about bed time! My second was a nightmare! Our third one, though, is a dream. She's almost five and she still amazes me! Bedtime doesn't suck anymore. But it certainly did once upon a time!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

  4. I completely remember when I hit that phase. It was a bit later in life though. When I was about 6 or 7. I couldn't stand to go to bed at 9, when everyone was still up doing things. I felt like I was missing out!
It's developed a bad habit for me now. I stay up until everyone else is asleep so that I don't miss anything.

  5. Oh that stinks! But you have lots of cute pictures! :)

  6. We are in that phase too, but our son is 3.5. He fights sleep forever. Drives me crazy. Ours has lasted a long time...:(
