The Sound of Music

Musical Monday

UPDATE: So I have editted this to add it to Musical Monday. What a fun new Meme Jori and Diane have started. Maybe this will be my Musical Monday to do list....(someone remind me next Sunday night :) There is such an ecclectic mix of albums here I think some of them deserve some sort of explanation (no?)

So I got this tag on Facebook - but I like it so much I figure I'd post it here (as well :)

"Think of 25 albums that had such a profound effect on you they changed your life or the way you looked at it. They sucked you in and took you over for days, weeks, months, years. These are the albums that you can use to identify time, places, people, emotions. These are the albums that no matter what they were thought of musically shaped your world."

  1. Decca Days - Billie Holiday
  2. The Essential Album - Nina Simone
  3. The Best of Louis Prima
  4. Take Five - Dave Brubeck Five
  5. Ben Folds Live - Ben Folds
  6. Stranger Than Fiction - Bad Religion
  7. Grassroots - 311
  8. No Room For Squares - John Mayer
  9. Make Yourself - Incubus
  10. The Transatlantic Move - DJ Keoki

  12. G. Love and Special Sauce (self titled)
  13. Elephant Riders - Clutch
  14. Yes - Morphine
  15. Rondo Alla Turca - Mozart (so this one isn't an album but one piece from Mozart and one of my favorite all time classical pieces)

  18. Rent - Original Broadway Cast

  24. 20th Anniversary Collection - Green Linnet
  25. River of Dreams - Billy Holiday
I love music, each of these CDs really do signify a point in my life for one reason or another. I think I will have to do this again, maybe next week - but for books. I read (or used to read) almost obsessively. I have been otherwise distracted lately (you know...darn kids) but need to find my way back to my books. I used to dream of having my own home so that I could have a fully stocked library (yeah...I'm that geek...I'm ok with it).

  1. Not many people know who g love is and he is amazing! He is coming to lupos on April 4th.

  2. I have seen them/him several times - never disappoints - I might just have to convince Hubby to take me to this one!! (or find someone else who would go with me!!)

  3. How did you think of 25 albums?...that was pretty cool. Sorry to hear about you feeling so bad, but it is good for the weight loss...way to think positive.
Can't wait to see pics from that party.

  4. Wow...there's no way I could remember 25 albums. I'm impressed! :o)

  5. What an ecclectic list of music! And I love Ella....hubby and I danced to At Last almost ten years ago on our wedding.

Hope things start to improve soon in the "feeling better" department.

  6. Love G-Love! Makes me think back to high school!! : )

  7. Great list of music! I took the same challenge on FB. When you really start thinking...it's difficult to limit it to 15 or 25....so much music had such a profound affect!

  8. I'm impressed that you came up with 25 albums--25 songs I could do, but I don't know about whole albums. So glad you linked up! We definitely need to hear the stories behind some of them! I'll try to remind you next Sunday ;)
