A Winner, A Prize, and A Little More About Me

First...the real reason you are all here....the winner of the bag...

Rachel from Once Upon a Miracle, so please go over and congratulate her and wish her a Happy Birthday (funny how things work out like that!!!).

I have to give honorable mentions to, well, everyone....you all came out swinging and really tried hard (commented your hearts out) to win this bag. I also have to say thank you!! The fact that you all like what I make so much that you would try so hard is a HUGE compliment to me, and definitely makes me want to create more and more!!

Now don't worry if you didn't win the bag....in true party fashion I have yet another door prize for my loving commenters....but first you have to read a little bit more about me :)

TRUTH: What is your ONE regret in life. It doesn't have to be a big one, but just think of one thing you wish you could do differently. ;) (Kelly)

Considering my current situation this is an easy question to answer. My one regret right now was my decision to leave my former job and take the position I just lost. It was a hard decision for me to make, I did like to company I used to work for, and I loved the people I worked with, but I was scared. A couple days before my birthday I got a call about the open engineer position and was asked to interview for it, several days later the company I had been working for announced they were going to be having layoffs...3 months pregnant with Jack, I did what I thought was best and changed jobs, and careers. Now here I sit 1 1/2 years later, regretting having made that decision, wishing I was back with my old coworkers at my old job...hopefully someday (soon) I will be able to correct that mistake and find my way back.

TRUTH: How long have you lived in New England? Did you grow up here or did you land here somehow? I'd love to know why you stay! I am a NE girl, myself! (Jingle)

"I'm Rhode Island born, and I'm Rhode Island bred, and when I die I'll be Rhode Island dead" (URI fight song)

That should say it all. I am a true Roe d'ye landah. I love my little state, and some days I hate it. But this is where I am from and where I am happy to live (well at the moment anyway). It wasn't always this way for me, in high school I swore I would get away, I was going to move far away and never look back. I even tried - 4 months at school in North Carolina (Warren Wilson College if you must know), I was not meant for the south, at least not at that school!! So here I am a proud New Englander, happy to be where I am.

And I have to admit Dan and I are part of a very very large family of RI'ers. Of 22 aunts and uncles (not including their spouses) only 1 has moved further away than 30 miles from where they started. Our wedding had over 150 guest, only about 30 of those weren't relatives, and of the relatives only 4 were beyond first cousins, and NONE had to get on a plane or drive more than 30 minutes to get to our wedding!! So, all that said, I am, and always will be, a proud native RI'er. {wow...that was a long long answer....sorry}

So did you get all that? I know it was a lot....but to reward you for reading all of that...well for reading my blog in general here is another little handmade gift from me to you.

In addition to my bags, I have started to make headbands. See no matter what I do I HATE my hair, especially right now as I am in bad need of a haircut and my head has gone full on frizz!! I decided to fight the frizz, and try to look at least moderately stylish (in my own mind anyway) I would make myself a cute little headband or two. I LOVE making these, and I would love to share them with you!!!

{its a little hard to see in the pic, but each headband has an elastic sewn in, and then can be tied so that you can make it fit as loose or tight as you'd like.}

I am offering one of my readers their chose of two headbands from a huge variety of fabrics, in either adult, child, or baby.

To enter...comment....comment your heart out!! Just like last time each comment equal one entry.

The winner will be chosen on Monday whenever I have the chance to steal away and pick one.

Oh...and if you are wondering about my dares....I just have to save the best for last you know....those will be coming soon....Although tomorrow I will be tackling this dare

DARE: Truth or Dare? take the day off from blogging and or creating! I know that will be hard not to check for comments and e-mail! (Penny Pattern)

I think this by far will be the hardest dare of them all, but the best idea yet. A well needed break for me and my family :)

Now comment away....and I'll see you on Monday!!!

  8. I love your goals on your sidebar. That is awesome!!!

    I always figured if we had to rethink a decision we would probably make the same decision again, given the facts as we knew it then, because we always make what seems to be the best decision at the time. Nobody tries to make a bad decision.

    Hopefully some day you will be back with your friends again. That would be lovely!
