Random Thoughts From a Pregnant Brain

The high point of my day yesterday (other than the new washing machine and Pet Shop Boys on the radio) was finding a little jar of Fluff in our cabinets.  Yup I love me some fluff!!

I have a confession to make, one of the first things I thought of when I saw that positive pregnancy test: "Crap, now I'll have to change my blog name".  Yup - these are the things that go through my mind....I still have several months (like 7) of baby incubation to do, but I am already trying to brainstorm it!!!  I mean if I have another boy it will actually be pretty easy, just a gramatical change really:
Loving Mom TO Boys.  But what it I have a girl?  Do you know how long it took me to think of the name of this blog now?  I've already changed it once....ugh...

So I have several giveaways and reviews waiting in the wings - I've decided that every Friday I am going to post a new one.  I need to schedule them or I'll never get them done.  Plus I love the idea of ending the week with a giveaway.

That said...I LOVE the idea of supporting other mommies, currently my giveaways will be for bigger companies, but if you have a small mommy run business or company, I would love to feature you and your work (leave me a comment with a way to contact you if you are interested)

I am WAY behind on my gardens right now - its supposed to be gorgeous for the next few days, I'm really hoping that I can finally make some progress.  I finally finished {most} of the veggie garden with the boys this morning, although I think my spinach seedlings aren't going to last the week.  I think one of our plans for this weekend will be a trip to the farm to get a couple spinach plants and some plants so I can finish my bird/butterfly garden.

The hubby and I are going to take the boys to one of the state parks this weekend for the kick off of the RI Great Outdoors event.  The state is trying to encourage families to get outside and try new activites together.  There are 5 free events over the summer,  each at a different state park.  At each event there are activities to try (like rock climbing and fishing) and clues to discover and decode, they also encourage you to try at least 2 "self-guided" tours.  There are also prizes awarded to "Teams" based on how many events they participate in. I think its a great way to encourage families to get out and learn about everything RI has to offer (more than you would think!!).

If you are local and interested check out the info here.

Its official...Dan and I are planning a little mini-vacation for the two of us in July.  I can't wait - the boys will stay home with our mothers and we are going to spend a long weekend visiting friends in Vermont.  Its by far one of my favorite places to go, and by far 2 of my favorite people to visit.  I feel a little bad leaving the boys behind, but I know we need a little time to ourselves before baby #3 comes.  Plus its been a really long and hard year for my family, I think the hubby and I need a little time with just each other.

We have been talking to Tommy and Jack a lot about the baby.  Trying to make them understand why mommy is so tired and sick lately.  Also preparing them for the fact that they will have to share me with another child (right now they fight with each other "NO!! My Mommy!!!").  I think Jack is still indifferent to the idea of a baby - but Tommy is THRILLED...

Tommy: Mommy how many babies are you having
Mommy: Just one buddy
T: But I want you to have 5 babies!!
M: Why 5 buddy?
T: 1 for me, 1 for daddy, 1 for you, 1 for Jack, and 1 for Bobo
M: {speechless}

I am really hoping that once the baby comes he will realize that 1 is enough!!!

I think I'm done for now....my pregnant brain could go on for hours...but I'll spare you any more random thoughts...

Happy Thursday All!!!

  4. I'll do a little brainstorming once you find out what you're having to help with a new Blog name! Let's hope you have to add + girl to the equation! I have to check out the state parks thing. Nate hurt his foot and we're supposed to go to the earth fest thing in boston tomorrow, but i'll have to see if he's walking any better. When that boy slows down you know it must hurt!

  10. Holy cow. Davy told me the same thing about 5 babies. I told him that we would have to get a bigger house and move away from all of his friends. His reply, "Okay! Because then we'd have 5 babies!" Yeah... Now he just says, "Mom, when we go find our sisters, can we find two girls and one boy so we'd have 8 people in our family?" Again... yeah... Bless their hearts...
