Seek Joy

In every moment in life I guarantee you, you can find something that will make you unhappy.  There will be statements you don't agree with, comments you don't like, people who irritate.  And on many days if you don't even try you can easily be overcome with images and comments of negativity, fear, pain.

But I strongly believe in *almost* every moment you can find joy, even if in some moments it may be harder than others.

Maybe I'm a glass half full kind of person, or maybe I'm a "Sure the glass if half empty but I really wasn't that thirsty" kind of person.  Maybe I should blame my father for making me watch "Pollyanna" over and over when I was young, or maybe I should thank him for it.

Don't get me wrong - I know its hard.  My husband can tell you how much I can focus on the negative.  But I have been challenging myself to step back, take a breath, accept the things I cannot change and find the joy where I can.

Today I challenge you - go about your day and seek joy, I promise you, somewhere it is there.  And I would love if you would come back here and share what you found, whether its something big or something small.

My joy today - my husband sent me a picture of Olivia at a petting zoo feeding a fawn - what an amazing moment it must be for her.

  1. My joy today: going to Michael's and buying things to do some crafts with B; baking my husband's favorite apple dessert. AND having the time to actually do this stuff, because I have nothing else looming over me that makes me feel like I have to do it today!! LOVE that!! :D

  2. I love it. How motivating. I sought out joy today by taking my kids pumpkin picking and seeing their faces light up!

  5. It's definitely EASIER to see the negative! It takes works to see the positive, but once you do it's so worth it!!!

    1. That's exactly it Kristin. I just felt like I was attacked yesterday morning by complaints, negativity, and all around depressing comments. There is so much good in so many of our lives, even on the bad days most of us are blessed, we just choose not to focus on it.

  6. The concept of finding joy where you can is the ONLY thing that's kept me going in the last few months. I'm so glad I have that ability.
